Description

Allen-Bradley 1734-APB POINT I/O PROFIBUS DP Adapter

The Allen-Bradley 1734-APB is a compact POINT I/O PROFIBUS DP network adapter module engineered to bridge field-level POINT I/O modules with a PROFIBUS DP network. Weighing approximately 0.55 lbs (0.25 kg), it is installed on the far left side of a 1734 assembly, acting as a master on the backplane PointBus—supporting up to 63 I/O expansion modules—and operating as a slave device on the overarching PROFIBUS network. Operating on a nominal 24V DC input (10–28.8V DC range), the module converts field power into 5V DC logic power, delivering up to 1000 mA of PointBus backplane current. Built with reverse polarity protection and an IP20-rated form factor, it provides reliable communication, 8W max power consumption, and 10 ms power-loss hold-up time for demanding industrial automation environments.
