Installation Guidelines (Field Engineer Notes)
Slot Placement: Top and bottom slots both require Universal AC supplies. Insert modules into designated slots and lock latches.
Wiring: Connect AC input to L1 and L2 terminals. Use 14 AWG minimum wire. Torque terminals to 0.8 N·m (7 in·lb). Connect earth ground to chassis ground lug.
Voltage Check: Verify 85-264V AC between L1 and L2 before energizing. Frequency must be 47-63 Hz.
Redundancy: Dual supplies provide true redundancy. Remove one supply during operation to test failover. System continues running without interruption.
Current Budget: Each AC supply provides 2.8A RMS maximum. Calculate total rack load before adding modules.
FAQs
Q1. Can I replace one supply while the rack is powered?
A1. Yes. The 3500/15 supports hot-swap. Remove the faulty supply, insert the new one, and it automatically synchronizes. No system shutdown required.
Q2. What happens if both supplies fail?
A2. If both supplies fail, the rack loses power. Install a new supply within 30 seconds to maintain monitoring. Longer downtime requires system restart.
Q3. Can I mix Universal AC and DC supplies?
A3. No. This configuration uses Universal AC in both slots. Mixing AC and DC requires a different part number with appropriate slot codes.
